Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fixing the "blunder" that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) during his administration. According to Amit Shah, Prime Minister Modi revoked Article 370, which was imposed by Jawaharlal Nehru in error and flew the Indian flag in the Union Territory. As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, Amit Shah spoke at a public event in Jodhpur and declared, "PM Modi has kept every promise we have made since the BJP was founded. Article 370 was a mistake that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru made in Kashmir. On August 5, 2019, Prime Minister Modi lifted the Indian flag in Kashmir and abolished Article 370." Amit Shah further accused Jawaharlal Nehru of being responsible for the region of Jammu and Kashmir that is currently under Pakistani occupation, claiming that "Kashmir had to suffer for years" as a result of these "two blunders." Jawaharlal Nehru has been brought up in relation to Jammu and Kashmir debates on previous occasions. In response to a discussion on the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Lok Sabha, Amit Shah pointed out that Jawaharlal Nehru committed "two blunders": he called for a ceasefire during the 1948 India-Pakistan war without gaining control of all of Kashmir, and he also brought the Kashmir dispute before the UN. "I agree with the term used here: Nehruvian error. Kashmir had to suffer as a result of the mistake made under Nehru's rule. I wish to acknowledge with accountability the two mistakes that Jawaharlal Nehru made during his administration, actions that caused years of suffering for Kashmir. The first is to proclaim a truce, which was enforced when our army was victorious. Today, PoK would be a part of India if there had been a ceasefire after three days. The second is to address the UN about our domestic problem," Shah stated. Amit Shah, who was also criticizing Congress, claimed that the ancient party had disregarded pleas for a Ram temple in the city of Ayodhya, the site of Lord Ram's Janmoobhoomi, a promise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had kept. PM Modi just opened the Ram temple in January. "For 70 years, the Congress party has diverted from the issue of the Ram Temple at 'Ram Janmbhoomi' but PM Modi has not only laid the foundation stone but also did the 'Pran Pratistha' on January 22," Amit Shah said during the event.
