Divya Delhi :Kenya has extended an offer to spearhead the international mission that seeks to furnish essential support to the domestic police force in an effort to reestablish order on the streets following months of disorder caused by gang rule.The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Benin, Chad, and Jamaica all expressed their solidarity with Kenya. "Other nations have expressed interest, including publicly, but have not yet notified the Secretary-General," according to the UN Spokesperson's Office.At present, the Trust Fund of the support mission is stocked with $18 million, of which Canada ($8.7 million), France ($3.2 million), and the United States ($6 million) have contributed."The Varreux fuel terminal is currently closed due to multiple gang attacks."On a more optimistic note, our humanitarian colleagues inform us that the Caribbean Port Service retrieved over one hundred humanitarian containers in the past three weeks.In the interim, the humanitarian effort persists, with the World Food Programme (WFP) delivering regular sustenance aid to displaced individuals residing in Port-au-Prince and various other regions.At displacement sites, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have established mobile clinics to offer medical consultations. In addition to essential medical and psychosocial services, the IOM provides these services to displaced individuals.
