Only 29 of the 129 Lok Sabha seats in the five southern states were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections; 25 of these seats came from Karnataka, a state that the BJP lost in the previous year's state elections. The BJP was unable to register in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, or Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister will spend a lot of time campaigning in the five southern states and launching a number of development initiatives there in the next two months, but that won't stop the party from setting high goals in the south. To inaugurate projects totaling Rs 20,000 crore, including a new airport, the PM visited Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he will travel to Kerala, where he will host a public meeting in Thrissur and a large road show. Nearly two lakh BJP women employees are expected to attend the public gathering, according to party sources. Following the Congress's claim that the saffron party has no support in the South, the BJP will be making a significant declaration."We want the five southern states to have at least 40–50 seats in the Lok Sabha. Since people have rapidly lost trust in the Siddaramaiah government and we did not lose vote share in the assembly polls despite losing, we will keep our twenty-five seats in Karnataka. The BJP will also fare better in Telangana than it did in 2019, when we took home four Lok Sabha seats. In addition, we want to win a few seats in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, a senior BJP leader told News18. According to him, there would be a strong "South focus" to the rallies held by prominent politicians like Amit Shah and Narendra Modi throughout the election campaign, and votes will be cast in Modi's name.
