Congress' India-Maldives brawl: ‘PM Modi takes things personally’

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes everything 'personally' after taking power in 2014. After assuming office, Narendra Modi takes everything personally. Internationally, we should get along with our neighbors...Time should dictate our actions...Kharge told ANI that neighbors cannot be changed. The party president also promoted good neighbor ties.Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar supported PM Modi and denounced the disparaging statements. He added such comments won't be acceptable and that one should respect the prime minister. We won't accept such comments from foreign officials about our Prime Minister. The PM's position must be respected. Pawar told ANI that foreigners won't be allowed to criticize the Prime Minister.  Malsha Shareef, Mariyam Shiuna, and Abdulla Mahzoom Majid ridiculed PM Modi's visit to Lakshadweep, sparking a scandal.The island nation's main opposition leaders lambasted the ruling establishment after India aggressively pushed the issue with Male. Former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed called the comments "appalling" against Modi.Shiuna insulted PM Modi in a deleted post. Council member Zahid Rameez criticized the Indian leader. India was incensed, and the Maldives government rejected the disparaging remarks, saying they did not represent Male.Last Monday, the Maldivian government banned three deputy ministers for disparaging social media statements against PM Modi.
