Amarinder Singh Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh confirmed that his new party will enter a seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP, but asserted that he was not open to an alliance with Akalis. The name of the party has not yet been decided upon, he added.“Let the EC decide. We have made a request for symbol and the name. Will let you know when we get clearance,” he said He also said that the state’s security was under threat in view of an increasing number of drone attacks. Drones have been used to deploy weapons and drugs in the past, he said, noting that now explosives are also being dropped by the devices. “I am not an alarmist. We, politicians should protect Punjab.”
