Vistara canceled 50 flights on Monday and may cancel 60 on Tuesday. PTI stated that sources said the number could reach 70. The airline blamed pilot shortages for flight interruptions and proposed solutions. It added flying operations are reduced and wide-body aircraft are used domestically.DGCA requested daily flight cancellation and delay data from the company. They also demanded the airline to provide "facilities to passengers due to denied boarding, cancellations, and delays." DGCA officials are monitoring compliance, too. Vistara's spokesperson said, “We have had a significant number of flight cancellations and delays in the past few days due to various reasons including crew unavailability.” The spokeswoman stated stabilization efforts are underway and regular operations will resume soon. The spokeswoman said teams are minimizing customer pain. "We use our B787-9 Dreamliner and A321neo on select domestic routes to combine flights or accommodate more customers. As needed, we're offering affected customers alternative flights or reimbursements. We apologize again for the inconveniences, which have upset our clients. The representative claimed they were stabilizing the issue and will soon resume normal operations. Vistara uses the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner on some domestic routes "to accommodate more passengers, wherever possible," the spokeswoman stated. Similar difficulties plagued the airline last month. Economic Times stated, citing sources, that Vistara first officers upset with the new contract have been reporting sick for two days, delaying many flights.
